Q: Can I submit a paper written in French?
A: Gates Open Research accepts only papers written in English.
Q: I presented a poster. Can I submit a full paper, that is developed primarily based on the poster?
A: Yes, ICFP Gatesway accepts full papers that are based on the presentations at the conference – both oral and poster.
Q: I presented a poster. Can I submit a full paper, that is developed primarily based on the poster?
A: Yes, ICFP Gatesway accepts full papers that are based on the presentations at the conference – both oral and poster. All submitting authors need to write a complete paper, following the journal guidelines for authors.
Q: If referees have serious concerns about my paper and do not recommend to accept it, what are my options?
A: Authors would have three choices: (1) Respond to the referees and explain their own position, and/or (2) Revise their article to address some or all of the criticisms (this is published as a new version), and see whether the referees change their recommendations, and/or (3) Suggest additional referees for their article.
Q: Can I withdraw the paper after the open peer-review process starts? For example, if referees have concerns and I disagree and decide not to address them, can I withdraw the paper?
A: No. Once a paper is submitted and the open peer-review process starts, it is considered fully published on Gates Open Research, with a citation. It will remain on the site regardless of the final peer-review outcome and reviewers’ notes.
Q: Will my paper be indexed in PubMed?
A: Yes, once a paper passes the peer-review (i.e., receiving a recommendation to accept from two reviewers), it will be indexed in PubMed. Until then, the paper is considered a “Preprint”, and will not be listed in PubMed.
Q: How can I get further detailed information about the publishing process?
A: More detailed information regarding the open review process is available in this webinar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KAGbGAo0OM&t=2s.
Q: Is there a specific format for the article submissions?
